Latino CampaignLatino Campaign Page
Latino Campaign Mural Network for a Healthy California— Latino Campaign is a Public Health initiative led by the California Department of Health Services.  Its purpose is to empower low-income Latino adults and their families to consume the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables and enjoy physical activity every day by providing consumer education and opportunities for action.

The Latino Campaign provides tips and tools to help low-income Latino families take charge of their families’ health to help reduce the risk of serious health problems, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and certain types of cancers.  For information about the local Gold Coast Region Latino Campaign, please feel free to contact Mary Arévalo, Latino Campaign Manager, 805.677.5255.

Strategy
Empowers low-income Latino adults and their families to consume the recommended servings of fruits and vegetables and engage in at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day.

Reach population
Eligible Latinos ages 18-54 and their families.

Channels
Farmers’/flea markets, supermarkets, neighborhood grocery stores, direct health service providers, Latino festivals, regional events and community organizations.

Power Play! CampaignPower Play! Page

Power Play! Logo The Network for a Healthy California— Children’s Power Play! Campaign is a statewide nutrition education program funded by the Network through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.  The Network for a Healthy California— Gold Coast Region Campaign is housed in Ventura County Public Health.  For information about the local Gold Coast Region Children’s Power Play! Strategy
To improve the health of youth and their families through education, intervention, outreach and environmental changes, to prevent chronic disease and promote healthy weight.

Reach population
Eligible 9-11 year-olds (4th & 5th graders).  Eligible Latinos ages 18-54 and their families.


Channels
Schools, community, community youth organizations, supermarkets, farmers’ markets & media.

Physical ActivityPA Page

The Network for a Healthy California— Physical Activity Integration Program is a public health initiative lead by the California Department of Public Health, administered by the Public Health Institute, and funded by USDA SNAP, known in California as CalFresh.

Its purpose is to assist Regional Networks, The Fruit and Vegetables Campaigns, Local Incentive Award Programs, Faith-based programs, Food Security Initiatives, and other Special Projects and partners to integrate Physical Activity into nutrition education efforts and programs.

Strategy
Assist partners to integrate Physical Activity into nutrition education efforts and programs.

Reach Population
Network funded programs and qualifying non-Network funded programs

Channels
Regional Networks, The Fruit and Vegetables Campaigns, Local Incentive Award Programs, Faith-based programs, Food Security Initiatives, Community Based Organizations Direct Health Service Providers and other qualifying Special Projects and partners.

Retail ProgramRetail Page

The Network for a Healthy California— Retail Program is a public health initiative lead by the California Department of Public Health, administered by the Public Health Institute, and funded by USDA SNAP, known in California as CalFresh.

Its purpose is to facilitate partnerships between neighborhood stores, supermarkets and community based organizations to help increase the consumption and purchase of fruits and vegetables among CalFresh eligible Californians. The Retail Program provides retailers statewide with a unique variety of tools, resources, and outreach activities to inspire healthy change among consumers. The Retail Program also provides retailers opportunities to increase fruit and vegetable sales, therefore improving the bottom line.

Strategy
Increase the consumption and purchase of fruits and vegetables among food stamp eligible Californians.
