The
Network for a Healthy California—
Retail Program
is a public
health initiative lead by the
California
Department of Public Health,
administered by the
Public Health
Institute, and funded by
USDA SNAP,
known in California as
CalFresh.
Its purpose is to facilitate
partnerships between neighborhood
stores, supermarkets and community
based organizations to help increase
the consumption and purchase of
fruits and vegetables among
CalFresh
eligible Californians. The Retail Program provides
retailers statewide with a unique
variety of tools, resources, and
outreach activities to inspire
healthy change among consumers. The
Retail Program also provides
retailers opportunities to increase
fruit and vegetable sales, therefore
improving the bottom line.
Strategy
Increase the consumption and
purchase of fruits and vegetables
